The School of Medicine at Trinity was founded in 1711 and has played a central role in the golden age of Irish medicine. Today, it is an international leader in biomedical research and education, and is ranked in the top 100 universities in the world for Medicine (QS World University Rankings 2015/16).
The course has a variety of option like M.B. (Bachelor in Medicine), B.Ch. (Bachelor in Surgery) and B.A.O. (Bachelor in Obstetrics).
The School of Medicine in TCD has developed the undergraduate degree in Medicine in accordance with the Medical Council and the World Federation of Medical Education guidelines.
Postgraduate activities within the School are co-ordinated by the School of Research & Postgraduate Education in the Trinity Centre for Health Sciences in St. James’s Hospital
. The School of Medicine has a strong international network and students have the opportunity to gain experience overseas as part of the electives programme. The School has extensive elective links which include Columbia University (New York, NY), Georgetown University (Washington, DC), University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, PA), North-western University (Chicago, IL), Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore, MD), University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Champaign, IL), National University of Singapore and American University of Beirut Medical Centre.
